Frequently Asked Questions (FAQs)

Do I have to be naked?

Although Swedish technique is traditionally nude, where all “private parts” remain securely covered underneath the topsheet and blanket, it is absolutely not required. Many people choose to leave their underwear on, and you can leave as much clothes on as you feel comfortable. Proper draping is a standard of professional and licensed massage therapists.

What will it feel like?

Pressure will vary from area to area and is up to each client how light or heavy it will be. During our initial conversation, I will ask what your preference is and check in with you during the massage to be sure you are happy with the pressure.

Is “no pain, no gain true,” regarding massage?

No. The maximum threshold of pressure is that your body is in a receptive state. Too much pressure causes your body to contract, your body is saying no. Never permit a practitioner to tell you to accept more than you are willing to accept! The body heals when it’s relaxed, not stressed.

What are the known benefits of massage?

Although there are no guarantees of results, the benefits are known to be far reaching for all systems of the body; circulation, immunity, reduced anxiety, easing symptoms of depression, muscle tension, and can improve sleep quality.
